At this time of year, hope springs eternal. The idea that the “spring” real estate market is the best time of the year to buy or sell, and for agents to grow their businesses. Some years the spring delivers and in other times the spring is sprung, meaning not much changes, and at times the unexpected happens. 


What do we know? According to data recently released by the OC Register from Data Quik the year over year sales drops are significant in the same 22 days versus the same period last year. The reality is the overall market has slowed due to higher interest rates, higher prices, and an uncertain economy moving forward. To the individual this should mean little, when it applies to being an agent, there is enough market activity for anyone to reach their personal goals. Now, the big issue is that there is rarely enough market share for everyone to achieve their goals… so capitalism and the survival of the fittest will often times apply.


While not all real estate agents are created the same, neither are the companies they represent. Every company has its own models and systems. Each of us will match up with one of them or get our broker’s license and possibly start our own brands. The proliferation of on-line broker’s is real, and the choices are more than the 31 flavors at Baskin Robbins.


How do you know which is best for you? Be a strong individual and do what works best for you. Not going along with the pack, or yes even your best of friends will help you differentiate yourself in branding.
